Motivation

We would like to decide on and then set expectations on the quality of our next release, 0.4. This page outlines my initial thoughts for discussion, so that we can arrive at a "plan for a plan" on this important issue.

What are the types of issues?

  • Performance
  • Robustness/reliability
  • Platform-specific
  • Interaction or workflow contrary to design intentions
  • Visual polish
  • Non-functioning

Ideas/Suggestions

  • PM & QA drive a process to come up with a prioritized list of bugs that need to be fixed
  • If there are unbounded or hard issues to solve, we should appoint a team to start working on these issues soon/now.

Questions

  • What are the toughest problems to fix? What are the risks and trade-offs?
  • Who are the people that need to work on these issues? Is it across working groups?
  • Are we still planning to focus on fixing these issues only after 0.4B?
  • How do we dovetail to general QA plan/processes?
