Workflows

Installing Chandler

  • Installers for Mac, PC and Linux.

Setting up Chandler

  • Same setup of IMAP, SMTP and WebDAV accounts as in 0.4.
  • Note - need to determine if we will have prepopulated options for WebDAV accounts (meeting pending to discuss).

Navigating with Chandler

  • Same navigations for collections.
  • Kind filters are now App Bar items in the Toolbar. Selecting App Bar item filters by kind.
  • Selecting the Calendar App Bar item displays the Calendar week or day view. All other App Bar selections default to summary table view.
  • The layout selectors in the summary table view have been removed.

Reading email

  • Same basics as in 0.4.
  • Use another email client to send an email to Chandler with one or more attachments ie: word doc etc.
  • Upon receiving the email in Chandler, the attachment column in the summary table view will indicate the number of attachments.
  • Select the email in the summary table view to display the detail view.
  • Detail view for that email item displays an attachment icon with the number of attachments next to it.

Writing email

  • Same as in 0.4. Create new email item, type in address, notes etc and click Send.

Creating Tasks

  • Same as 0.4. Create a new task and enter data.

Creating Notes

  • Same as 0.4. Create a new note and enter data.

Reviewing and editing my calendar

  • Review the Mini Calendar which defaults to today.
    • Review how busy you are at a high level based on the busy bars in the mini calendar view.
      • Can cycle to any month.
    • The preview area displays confirmed events for the selected date - default today.
    • Navigate to the more detailed calendar view by double clicking on a specific date.
    • Click on event in the calendar to bring up the detail view and make changes to the event details.
    • Drag the event to a different day or time on the calendar.
    • Drag the event up to the anytime area.

  • Review my calendar by selecting the All sidebar collection and clicking on the Calendar App Bar button.
    • Displays the week view for this week.
    • Review anytime area for all day or anytime events.
    • To to the day view for today to see scheduled events and tasks in detail.
      • view confirmed, tentitive and fyi events as well as conflicts.
    • Browse through weeks or days in calendar by using the next and previous buttons.
    • Browse between the week and day view by selecting a day header then the week button in the header.
    • Double click on event in the calendar to bring up the detail view and make changes to the event details.
    • Make this event an all day event.
    • Add a reminder if not there.

  • Probably need to have a scenario where we create a user defined collection and add calendar events to it.
    • Design calendar with events...can use this example for sharing.

Scheduling an event for myself

Scheduling Events

  • Go to the calendar for today and double click to create a new event. Add the subject info inline. Edit detail view to enter location, change date or time, add notes and set a reminder if required. Set the confirmed, tentative or fyi status.
  • Or use File menu to create a new Event and edit subject, date, time, notes and location information in the detail view. Set a reminder if required. The event will appear on the calendar.
  • Open an existing event and select the All Day check box. The event now appears in the Anytime area of the calendar.
  • Create a new Event and specify a date with no time. This is an Anytime event appears in the anytime area of the calendar.
  • Drag and drop events from the anytime area to a specific date and time. The detail view should be updated accordingly. Conversely if I drag and drop and event from a specific date and time to the anytime area, the detail view should be updated.

Scheduling Tasks

  • Create a new Task and fill in the details.
  • Stamp the task as an event and add in the event details, date and time, location, subject and specify reminder if required.
  • Scheduled a task for a specific time.
  • Schedule an anytime or all day task.

Reviewing and editing a shared calendar

  • Select the All collection and the Calendar App Bar button.
  • Share the All Calendar with another person (User B).
  • Add a new event on the calendar and sync changes. Could send an email notifying the user of the change (invitation).
  • User B syncs changes to get the new event.
  • User B adds some agenda notes to the event and syncs changes.
  • Uesr A syncs and sees the edited item.

Scheduling an event with someone else

  • Create an event for a meeting. Stamp as an email, type an email address Mimi and click Send.
    • Note: we may not have this for 0.5...still pending.

Receiving an event invitation from someone else

  • Receive an email for lunch on Tues.
  • Create a new event on your calendar and add the lunch details.
  • Set as Confirmed since I know that I can attend.

Clean up items

  • (pending review development plan)
  • Trash collection added to sidebar.
  • Handle both Remove and Delete.
  • Select a calendar event in the All collection, use Move to Trash menu item to move it to the Trash.
    • could also drag and drop this event into the Trash or use the Delete key.
    • use menu item to Empty the Trash.
  • Select a calendar event in a user defined collection and use the Delete key to remove it.
    • event is removed from this collection, doesn't go into the trash.
    • item still remains in the All collection.

Kibble Workflows not supported

  • Searching for mail
  • Distinguishing mail for follow-up
  • Manually filing mail
  • Reviewing/editing my tasks
  • Reviewing mailing lists
  • Auto filing mail (done automatically so no user steps taken, but UI should show how items are auto-filed)
