Migrating user data from osaf.us to hub.chandlerproject.org
In the Chandler Desktop Preview release, the system used for sharing with a server has been changed to use a faster, more capable system.
As a result, the
osaf.us server will no longer be used or updated. People using Chandler sharing should move to
hub.chandlerproject.org.
You can move off
osaf.us on your own schedule though eventually that server will be shut down. You should have until at least the end of August 2007 to complete this move.

Chandler Desktop 0.7 Preview migration instructions
Step 1: Launch your current Chandler Desktop
- Start Chandler Desktop like you normally do
Step 2: Handle your non-shared collections
- If all your collections are already shared to
osaf.us, go ahead to step #3.
- If some collections aren't published, you need to prepare them for migration or you will lose them. It will be easiest to just publish all your collections to the server. To do that:
- Select a collection in the left-hand sidebar
- Go to Share >> Publish menu
- A dialog box named "Publish" will pop up. Select your
osaf.us / WebDAV sharing account from the pulldown and click the "Publish" button.
- Note: If you have data that you are uncomfortable publishing to our servers, you should export each collection to
.ics files. To do that:
- Select a collection in the left-hand sidebar
- Go to File >> Export. Save each collection into a file.
- Note: Only events are saved properly to
.ics files. Tasks are partially preserved. Other Chandler items including notes and emails will be lost.
Step 3: Backup your Chandler Desktop data locally
- Go to File >> Export collections and settings... menu
- If a "Set Master password" dialog pops up, read the message and click "No" or "Yes" depending on how you'd like to manage your repository.
- Select a filename and directory to use (the default
YYYYMMDD.chex filename should be fine) and save the backup file
Step 4: Save your account settings
- Go to Tools >> Save and Restore >> Save settings...
- If a "Set Master password" dialog pops up, read the message and click "No" or "Yes" depending on how you'd like to manage your repository. Warning: If you select "No", please be careful with your settings file as it will contain all of your passwords in plain text.
- Select a filename and directory to use (the default
chandler.ini filename should be fine) and save the settings file
Step 5: Quit Chandler Desktop
- Shut down Chandler as you would normally.
Step 6: Download and install new Chandler Desktop
- Note: Please use a version of Chandler Desktop equal to or greater than 0.7.dev-r14601-checkpoint200700606.

Step 7: Launch new Chandler Desktop

- Confirm you have no collections, accounts, or data in your new Chandler.
- Note: Please check that you aren't running your previously-installed version of Chandler Desktop accidentally
Step 8: Create an account on the new server
