CSG Supplementary Questions Analysis
Deployment, integration/migration, and security issues.
Executive Summary: Conclusions
- Westwood must support nomadic use.
- Westwood should have a kiosk-use configuration where no user data is preserved or assumed on the kiosk computer.
- If deploying in a web UI, a calendar-only version would be acceptable, but must allow read/write access.
- Westwood should have replicated repositories that can be located on designated store-and-forward servers to assure reliable sharing of data.
- CSG institutions will be willing to try out Chandler is small workgroup configurations, but the majority would have actual deployment in large group or campus-wide configurations requiring scaled centralized administration and data storage.
- Only one-quarter of the institutions report the integration with Corporate Time is a showstopper requirement. While half felt that email scheduling would be nice to have, this method alone will probably not be adequate for the institutions that depend on Corporate Time. OSAF is continuing investigation of alternative methods for exchanging calendar information with Corporate Time.
- Both uncontrolled and controlled distribution will be used. Chandler should be available with an institution-specific preconfigured end-user installer.
- Importing address book info must be done. It is possible that some of the CSG institutions will step up and write converters for the majority of the relevant legacy applications.
- Importing filter rules does not have to be supported in Westwood.
- Importing other auxiliary data does not seem to be a showstopper, however the importance of integrating/migrating Corporate Time events needs to be addressed.
- Westwood must have S/MIME support.
- Westwood must have calendar delegation.
- Westwood email delegation would be an appreciated feature by half the institutions and the lack of it a showstopper for about one-quarter. Westwood should include some type of email delegation.
- Westwood must have group privileges.
- Westwood better be able to get group information out of an LDAP server.
