About the Page Info Box
Some pages on the Chandler web have a "PageInfo" box at the bottom of the page, like the table at the bottom of this page. Here"s an explanation of what the entries in that table mean...
PageType
What does "PageType" mean?
Each page on the Chandler wiki can have a "PageType". We"ve assigned page types to pages in order to try to help organize the wiki. The idea is that when you go to a new page, the purpose of the page should be immediately clear from looking at the page type banner. For more information about page types, see
AboutPageTypeAbout? Page Types.
MaintainedBy
What does "MaintainedBy" mean?
Many pages have a designated "Page Maintainer"; they"re the person who"s responsible for making sure that the page stays up to date and in sync with other pages. Other people are still welcome to edit the page and make changes and corrections and comments, but at the end of the day, it"s the page maintainer who needs make sure the page remains a "source of truth".
PageStatus
Each page can have one of three pre-defined "PageStatus" values:
| Page Status | Description |
| menu option | appears as |
| %OSAF_DRAFT% | Work in progress -- this page is still being drafted? | This is a new page, or a page that is being re-worked. It hasn"t yet be reviewed by people other than the author and isn"t necessarily accurate or up to date. |
| %OSAF_PROPOSAL% | Proposal -- available for review? | The author or authors of this page have finished a first draft of it, and the contents of the page represent a proposal that"s ready to be reviewed. |
| %OSAF_TRUE% | Source of truth -- this page reflects current OSAF thinking? | This page has been reviewed and refined by someone other than the author. It has passed muster, and should reflect official OSAF thinking. The page maintainer will strive to keep the page up to date. |
CommentsWelcome
How do I make comments about a page?
Different authors have different ways that they prefer to receive comments about their pages. In the "Comments Welcome" field, the person who"s maintaining the page can set a flag to let people know what"s the best way to make comments.
We"re still in the process of deciding what options we should have for this field. We"d like to have the smallest possible number of options, while still meeting the needs of different page authors. For now, we"re starting off with just one general-purpose option. We"ll add more later as we need them. If you"re a page author and you feel the need for a new option, please post a comment with the text of the new option you"d like to see. You can post it on this page or on the dev list, or you can send mail to
BrianDouglasSkinner.
| Page Status | Description |
| menu option | appears as |
| %OSAF_COMMENTSWELCOME% | Feel free to contribute comments?, either by adding to the Comments Welcome section of this page, or by posting to the dev list, or by sending mail directly to the person listed as maintaining the page. | A general-purpose option that encourages people to comment however they feel like, in the interest of encouraging comments. |
How do I add a Page Info box to my page?
