Chao has looked into some screencasting technology to help us storyboard some basic .6 calendar workflows. (Check out http://www.camtasia.com)

Proposal 2 sets of .6 tours. One pre-release based on photoshop comps to show where we ultimately want to go with Kibble. A second set to come out with the release, using screencasts of the real UI to show .6 workflows.

Kibble calendaring workflows

  • Managing your own schedule
    • Adding events straight onto the calendar and moving them around
    • Adding events with no time information
    • Pencilling in events (tentative)
    • Adding FYI events
    • Managing multiple calendars and overlaying them
    • Adding events and sending them out
    • Sending out invitations with no specific time proposal
    • Putting emails that are invitations onto the calendar
  • Managing someone else's schedule (ie. Esther for Mitch)
    • Adding events onto their calendar
    • Notifying participants of events by sending the event as an email
  • Self-managing group calendar (ie. OSAF calendar)
    • Different people adding events onto the calendar (ie. PTO, company picnic, etc)
    • Different people adding to the notes field of an event (ie. meeting agenda, what i'm bring to the potluck, who can carpool)
    • Notify participants by sending the event as an email

  • Scheduling a meeting
    • Overlaying several calendars to find a free slot
    • Checking out the "busy person's" calendar to find some good times to propose (the way LPFI does their invitations)
  • Long-term scheduling
    • Scrolling through the mini-calendar to look at your own long-term busyness
    • Overlaying several shared calendars to get a sense of overall activity level
    • Looking for due dates and milestones across the group
