Overview
This is the working page for Kibble search functionality that is currently scheduled for the 0.6 release. This will eventually turn into a spec but for now will act as a placeholder for design ideas, thoughts, issues etc.
Features
- Add in search box widget on the toolbar.
- 2 primary requirements for search
- a) speed
- b) ability to specify sub target of the Who category for searching, ie: to, from
- searches the to, from, subject and body fields.
- properties of search field
- cancel button to stop search or exit search mode - esc should also work.
- type in field and click enter to search
- auto-typing from anywhere...ie: focus in summary view fills in search field. The exception to this is if you are editing a field in the detail view, renaming sidebar items, inline editing etc.
- would be nice - like mac mail...search as you enter characters in search field (not a requirement for kibble).
- drop down to select to, from, subject and body restricted search. Should also support keywords so user can type in search field (ie: to:, from: subject: body:).
- default relevance is ordered by date.
- light-weight matching of email addresses and names...ie: I type in Yin but it matches mimi@osafoundation.org.
- search results number appear in parentheses next to all the sidebar collections.
- our selection in the sidebar does not change.
- the app bar selection does not change.
- the number of search results displayed in parentheses apply to the search results for that app bar selection and sidebar item. ie: I am in Work Events and search for mimi, I may get 10 items, I switch to the mail app and get 20 items.
