Overview

Meeting to discuss next level of webDAV account support for 0.5 keeping in mind Kibble goals as well as resources available for 0.5. Reviewed Pieter's marketing plan for 0.5 as well. In particular, how can we assist users to get access to WebDAV accounts for 0.5 sharing? How much assistance should we provide?

• Looking at several alternatives.
  • OSAF accounts for sharing.
  • Direct people to other available servers with free accounts. Pieter has identified Sharemation and Venue Communications as third-party sources for free accounts to Chandler users.

• We would like to have some internal accounts but also advertise to users that there is nothing special about OSAF accounts and they can use other ones as well.
  • Should have a 0.5 page explaining the alternatives.

• Overall goals for 0.5 should be to accomodate account support for people outside OSAF that want to try sharing.
  • Don't expect that many account requests for 0.5.
  • Also don't expect much time spent by OSAF resources (Jurgen) to administer and maintain accounts.
  • OK to still have experimental accounts for 0.5 with little maintenance.
  • Looking at a simple web-based sign up procedure for OSAF accounts for 0.5. Jurgen estimates this work to be about 3 days.

• Will investigate and scope out a mechanism to create the accounts behind the scenes for 0.5.
  • Account preferences dialog will have a drop-down for choosing (OSAF, sharemation and venue comm). Need to get scope from Morgen on this.
  • For OSAF account, we can pre-populate the webDAV account dialog and create a user account.
  • For Sharemation we auto-fill what is known and user specifies the rest.
  • For Venue Comm we pre-populate with test account info.

Next Steps

• Pieter will follow-up with Sharemation and Venue Comm about using the accounts.
• Talk to Morgen re:plan and get scope of work based on other 0.5 tasks.
• Coordinate follow-up meeting for after Jan 1 to discuss remaining tasks for 0.5.
• Jurgen to scope out internal account support and sign-up further when he gets back
