Before overlays

  • OOTB selections: All mode, All collection, Chandler welcome message
  • All selections persist for summary view and detail view unless user has never selected anything in that collection...

  • Calendar everything persists proposal:
  • Selected event displayed in the detail view
  • Date range (which may not include the selected event)
  • Day view v. Week view
  • Scroll position
  • Mini-cal selection
  • Mini-cal date range (which may not include the selected mini-cal date)

  • Calendar nothing persists proposal:
  • Detail view is blank, no event is selected
  • Date range stays the same
  • Day view v. Week view stays the same
  • Scroll position
  • Mini-cal selection stays the same
  • Mini-cal date range stays the same

  • [OI?] Which is easier?
  • [OI?] If we have cut and paste in the calendar, can users deselect events by clicking in a blank area in the summary calendar view?

  • If nothing has ever been selected in that collection a blank detail view is presented

After overlays

  • Calendar
  • Scenario: User overlays 2 calendars
  • 2nd calendar comes forward and is alive (visual distinction)
  • Detail view is blank, no event is selected
  • Date range stays the same
  • Mini-cal selection stays the same
  • Mini-cal date range stays the same

When sharing comes under control

  • Instead of displaying a blank detail view, we can display the detail view of the collection with options to:
  • Edit the name of the collection
  • Customize the color of the calendar
  • Share the collection
  • Perhaps disseminate the collection via RSS
