Notes

Announcements

  • Dan joining OSAF fulltime
  • Sprint - scheduled 2 sprints for next year

Preview Goals

  • We have a goal for next March - Chandler running with Cosmo and Cosmo UI to support
  • Very important goal - very important that OSAF has something functional
  • Credible for organization
  • Not a research project - want to have an impact with something that can be used day to day
  • Significant milestone
  • Discipline to get there - finish current features - see things through to make it compelling and meet the promise
  • Have to cut stuff to be realistic for preview
  • Not invest in stuff that we realistically can't do
  • Stick to priorities in day to day decisions - do what's most important
  • Live with decisions and move on - not continue arguing once we have made a decision - important to go forward
  • Consequences to others if we are not disciplined
  • Desktop - In a different phase - not about new features - about completing what we have - removing barriers to being functional
    • Bugs, finishing feature set, stability, performance
  • Cosmo - making sure that Cosmo supports the hosted service and sharing and the Cosmo UI will be functional (some piece) for casual collaborators.
  • All of this impacts day to day decisions and we need to stick to this
  • Mitch 2 cents - making preview in more of less the form we anticipate is the most important thing we will be doing over history
    • In order to maintain active progress, we need to do this.
    • No surprises. What we have to do in order to achieve that.
    • Need to attend to the basic stuff
    • We have what we need to execute - to get where we need to go
    • Numbers in adoption less important that momentum

Project Updates

  • Ops team (Katie)
    • 2 weeks ago we talked about the budget - projections for next year
    • Headcount really dominates budget at OSAF
    • Conscious of other costs - more consistent policies
    • Scale back on some conferences before Preview - focus on our release
    • More targetted and focused on conference attendance
    • 2 open positions - Cosmo and business strategy
    • Working on re-energizing the OSAF board - how should we use them to help

  • PPD (Sheila)
    • Not much activity on the design list
    • Monitoring Cosmo 0.5 and Chandler Alpha4 releases - dogfooding app, bug tracking, triage
    • Spec work for Preview and for Cosmo 0.6 in progress - most reviews will be scheduled

  • Chandler (Philippe)
    • Still working on stabilization bugs for Chandler Alpha4 - fixing. finding
    • Still several blockers - want to have 2 days where we don't find a blocker
    • Everyone should dogfood - need to have a stable and usable Alpha4
    • Making great progress

  • Cosmo (Ted)
    • Still working on Cosmo 0.5 - some features are taking a bit longer than anticipated ie: recurrence
    • Will probably branch next week and some people will start working on 0.6

  • Community (Ted)
    • No update this week.

  • Hosted Service (Jared)
    • Using performance reports for Preview decisions
    • Preview capacity set for 10000 users for Preview
    • Customer support - looking at a plan for this
    • Plans: more testing, ssl performance
    • OSAF.us is available for testing - runnning Cosmo 0.5
    • Webmail is available
