Discussion about wiki structure and tasks for hosted service related documentation items

Attendees: Mimi, Sheila, Jared

Notes

  • How do the service non-code deliverable wiki items fit into the hierarchy we have been discussing so far?
  • Everywhere we have combined Chandler/Cosmo we could have a section for Chandler Hub

Meta pages

  • FAQ
  • For Developers
    • Combine with eng wiki - not specific to Hub
    • Places that we combine Chandler/Cosmo in dev pages may not apply to Hub
    • Jared can look at the developers page - http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/EngineeringArea and either remove the section or add some content
  • Planning pages
    • We currently have links on the planning page for Hub stuff - might be out of date stuff
    • There are some things we can put in the planning page that Jared tracks right not - not worried if it's not that current
    • Jared will move content to the planning page. Jared will look at planning section and perhaps add some additional items
    • Good place for the metrics? We could have a link here but probably need a more prominent one as well
  • Log a bug
    • Service bugs integrated with the log a bug page
    • Are there Service related relnotes - probably not and most of those addressed by the FAQ

  • Where should the metrics dashboard go?
  • Product page is a good candidate
  • Chandler Hub planning area is where we would link the dashboard
  • Still need to find a good place to link the dashboard in - maybe left nav?

Pushing out the rest of the wiki areas

  • When does the planning area gets pushed?
  • Should we wait for Katie and Ted to push developer area?
  • We can go ahead and push out planning
  • Get more things in the top nav
  • By the end of next week we can push Developers, Planning, Home page and Notes even if we haven't finished all the content
  • Journal
    • Create Notes area - just people's notes
    • Leave the Journal as is
    • Meeting notes go in the teams section
    • Create the Notes area
    • Make the home page of the Notes area
    • Add the Notes in the nav and push it out

Home page

  • There is a bunch of stuff that doesn't belong anywhere - community, getting started guide
    • We can probably wait a bit to figure out - until we have all the other areas filled out
  • Where will the home page live?
    • Jared - this shouldn't be a wiki page - fancier
    • Who will do this. PPD doesn't have time now.
    • Currently have a wiki page
  • No screencasts - focus on getting started guide
  • Originally we had a list of static pages we were going to have
    • Landing page
    • Screencasts
    • 2 other pages we can't remember
  • Home page is currently on the wiki and dynamic - http://chandlerproject.org/Product/ChandlerProjectHome
  • Jared will create a ticket and look into making it a static page
  • http://chandlerproject.org/ to be a home page and when someone enters it the URL stays the same. Easy to do if it's a static page but Jared will look into this.

Other stuff

  • Hub home page? Do we need this?
    • Are there Chandler and Cosmo home pages?
    • What info does Jared have in mind?
    • Jared would write - a Hub home page. Don't really have a case for this now. We can put this off until later
  • Add a deliverable on the Preview countdown to redirect http://cosmo.osafoundation.org/ somewhere - mid-July
  • Terms of service
    • Licensing page on the wiki and link to terms of service
    • Links on login page of hub.chandlerproject.org
  • Stuff that is getting encoded into the client - specify the links
    • Jared wants to make sure the URLs are short
    • ie: Migration link? When you start chandler and have a previous version - dialog pops up
    • Sheila will take a pass at all the places where we define links and send an email to the list
  • Preview getting started guide in HTML - what is the URL for the getting started guide.
    • Do we need a redirect?
    • Probably add this to the sidebar of the landing page.
  • osafoundation.org work pushed out past preview
    • Jared might have time to look at this

Next actions

  • Jared to add a task to look at http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/Projects.ProductFAQ and add content specific to Hub
  • Jared will look at the developers page - http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/EngineeringArea and either remove the section or add some content specific for Hub
  • Jared will look at what content we have for Hub in the Planning page and add any additional items
  • Push out the rest of wiki areas by the end of next week even if content is not done
  • Plans for Journal * Create the notes page - just contributors notes * Make the Notes home page * Add to the nav and push out
  • Add a deliverable on the Preview countdown to redirect http://cosmo.osafoundation.org/ somewhere - mid-July
  • Sheila will take a pass at all the places where we define links and send an email to the list
  • Jared will look up list of other static pages we said we would have in addition to landing page and screencasts (no longer for preview)
  • Jared will look into making the landing page a static page
  • Jared will also find the list of other static pages we said we were going to have for Preview (2 others)
