Server Meeting June 8th, 2006

Self Assigned Projects

  • John Townsend mentioned that the Self Assigned projects plan is still on-going. If you have an idea for a self-assigned project, please let John know and let's put it up on the Self Assigned projects wiki page.

Cosmo 0.4 Status

  • QA signed off, bear is building it now. Should go final today.
  • Scooby will have to change its report definitions. John Townsend to file bug against Scooby for quick fix. Bobby Rullo to fix.

BCM's vacation plans

  • Brian is going on a month long vacation in Europe. This puts us in a interesting position with Cosmo support while he is out.
  • Brian will be gone from June 9 to June 26th. During this time, he will be on email regularly, but it will likely be daily.
  • Cosmo changes to worry about:
    • Calendar query reports have been refactored.
    • free/busy reports could be buggy. (tests pass, but coverage isn't complete)
    • JackRabbit? 1.0 has been put in place.
    • Repository is created differently (recreate on startup if it doesn't exist)
    • Schema changes (all tests pass).

Fox Marks issues

  • Cosmo is occasionally locking up and becoming unresponsive when used on the Fox Marks servers (this is also happening on Cosmo-demo too)
  • BCM: sounds like a deadlock
  • consider doing signal QUIT to get a threaddump when Cosmo is unresponsive. This should help us to understand state of server during this situation.

Interns and Summer of Code

  • Elliot
    • svn, getting code, reading docs, etc.
    • bcm to follow up with him today on next steps
    • needs to work with bear getting sandbox setup with copy of cosmo.
    • need a design proposal from him.
    • Two options
      • CalAtom? and GData
    • Original proposal was iterative to components of each option.
    • Needs to look at what cosmo already provides and how to extend it.
      • extend the feed package to have read/write (atom publishing protocol)
      • support new feed types
  • Vinu
    • Sandbox is setup, going through CalDAV and WebDAV spec.
    • Would like to see the flow of Cosmo.
    • Vinu is planning to look into project-reports from maven to see if we can get a better understanding of the flow.
    • Ted: UML modiling tools that are open source, import Java code and generate UML model.
    • Argo, MagicDraw? (look into non-profit license)
    • Vinu plan: Setup environment, come up to speed on Cosmo and CardDAV?, design proposal for CardDAV?.
  • Ed
    • CalDAV4j ticketing. Has proposal informally, BCM suggests that he post to the cosmo list.
    • BCM suggests that Ed look at the ticketing support in Cosmo (make it work with Cosmo first, worry about others later)

Notification

  • John Townsend mentioned his intentions to proposal something around Ecosystem notification to the list. More on this later.

Sharing Format

  • Due to background sync work on Chandler, the Sharing Format really hasn't gotten off the ground in a big way. We will be revisiting this in the next few weeks again once we get through the background sync work.
