Preview Countdown Meeting - June 18th 2007

Agenda

  • Milestone update
    • Cosmo code freeze
    • Desktop code complete
  • Recruiting more dogfooders
  • Non-code deliverables update

Notes

Milestone Updates

  • Cosmo feature freeze
    • Ted triaged many of the feature freeze tasks last Friday and we are still on track for our feature freeze milestone on Monday June 25th.
    • Cosmo team checks in on status via IRC every day at 10:00am.
    • Bobby keeping track of schedule while Ted is away.
    • Cycle of editing from Cosmo and viewing this in the desktop is our big critical path area.
    • We may not be able to really start integration testing until feature freeze is complete.
    • Sheila will check-in with Bobby and send an update to the list re: status mid-week.
  • Desktop code complete
    • On track for code complete July 16th - 210 bugs
    • Still actively triaging bugs to meet the date
    • Risks mentioned during Chandler Thursday meeting (http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/EngineeringMeetingNotes20070614):
      • Unstable feature: Edit/Update and Sharing still breaking regularly, Bug Council to monitor that
      • Integration risk: Cosmo dashboard may require bug fixes in the Desktop, Aparna to keep an eye on that
      • Repo bugs while Andi is in vacation, few blockers so far, Grant to keep an eye on those and assign to Platform devs
      • Perf regression: now that we are stable on the feature front (no feature to be added) we should start logging those, Heikki to monitor this
    • Needs to happen this week:
      • Performance session update, Philippe to email the list with data and follow up actions
      • Finish bug scrub, Bug Council to finish that
  • Other
    • Mitch using Chandler on the PPC mac
    • There are cases where it feels sluggish but we shouldn't hold Preview

Dogfooding

  • We are currently in the process of getting Esther/Mitch and Greg setup with Chandler and calendars published on hub.chandlerproject.org.
  • We ran into a problem on Cosmo - some boundary for handling modifications to recurring events. Mitch's calendar had several recurring events that exceeded the boundary.
  • Temporary work around to delete these and create new ones.
  • Bug on Cosmo is fixed but we would have to patch it into production.
  • If we run into this again we might just go ahead and patch it but Esther is unblocked for now.
  • New dogfooders - Are we going to try and actively recruit new people?
    • Jared posted to blog
    • Katie will post also
    • Send something to osafoundation.org
    • Send something to users list and general list again - Katie
    • Process - tell people to introduce themselves on the users list

Non Code Deliverables Update

  • Sheila currently trying to organize all the non-code deliverables.
  • Looked back at previous releases.
  • In the past, the non-code list contained 3 different types of information....
  • (1) Code related stuff * Logo, welcome text, readme.txt files, text changes in the app * All these items are logged under the appropriate project for Cosmo or Chandler and tagged in bugzilla * They have to be done by code complete * We have a pretty comprehensive list of these items and they should be tracked as part of the Cosmo or Chandler release management * http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/PreviewCodeRelatedDeliverables20070204
  • (2) Release steps * Stuff like notify Bear to do final RC, test RC etc * These items will be tracked by the individual release managers per project (defer to Jared and Philippe to handle this)
  • (3) Documentation * Known bugs, release notes, wiki changes, announcements * Most of this will relate to Preview and not to a particular project * We have decided to consolidate many of the pages like the FAQ, how to report a bug, get involved * We will be tracking these at the Preview meeting from now on * Sheila has started to assemble a list and log items in bugzilla - http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/PreviewNonCodeDeliverables20070204 * Will send an email to general to identify any missing items * Items are tagged - Product=OSAF, Component=chandlerproject.org, Target=0.7 * We may decided to have a brief release statement or release notes when we finish Cosmo 0.7 and Chandler 0.7 but we will defer to Jared and Philippe to drive that and make any requests from PPD that they need.
  • Everyone seems fine with this process
  • We will add links at the top of the Preview page for tracking Cosmo and Desktop bugs as well as non-code items so we can all be scanning the same list.
  • The links will be ready for next weeks meeting.
