Preview Meeting May 29th, 2007

Agenda

  • Schedule update
  • Cosmo 0.6.1 migration checkpoint
  • Desktop dogfood checkpoint
  • Desktop performance evaluation
  • Next actions for position statements

Notes

Schedule update

  • Sheila updated the milestone list based on...
    • Philippe's estimate for desktop code complete
    • Ted estimates for Cosmo feature freeze and code complete dates
    • There are some concerns around the short QA period for Cosmo but we are going to try and stage the features so QA can begin before feature freeze. We will also be tracking and triaging the bugs closely.
  • We are going to use this schedule for now. Sheila will update the Preview Countdown collection and give a status update at Thursday's staff meeting.

Migration checkpoint and Dogfood checkpoint

  • Morgen checked in a change last week for removal of default accounts.
  • We wanted to wait for new Chandler desktop checkpoint until after Morgen's check-in.
  • Jared will test this manually.
  • The new checkpoint will let Alpha4 work.
  • There is also a dump and reload menu item change on the desktop side that affects the instructions. We could also wait for this fix.
  • It would also be nice to fix the bug where the arrow is missing in the sidebar for shares.
  • What is blocking the project on having this migration checkpoint
    • We haven't sent out Chandler users announcements
  • It seems like the migration checkpoint and the dogfood checkpoint may be converging. There are only a few additional items we need to fix for the dogfood checkpoint.
  • So, we have decided to make these the same and aim for this Monday's checkpoint.
  • We will use the 0.7 blocking flag for the master list of blockers.
  • We will add in the additional blockers.
  • If there are issues with Monday's checkpoint - coordinate with Philippe to get the new checkpoint update - Philippe will drive this process
  • Should we name the migration/dogfood checkpoint a special name
    • We can do a few things to make sure it doesn't get auto-purged
    • No real need to have a named milestone to preserve post-preview.

Desktop performance evaluation

  • Philippe created a wiki page
  • Some commits from John and BKirsch
  • We can do this tomorrow - at 10:00am
  • Philippe will send out the email about the performance test session

Position statements

  • Identify the stakeholders for the position statements that go on...
    • Landing page
    • Wiki home page
  • If we agree on this, Mimi can proceed with criteria to determine what needs to be in the tagline for these places
  • Stakeholders
    • Sheila - product
    • Ted - community
    • Katie - OSAF strategy
  • Stakeholders should look at the proposals that went to the PR list and comment on criteria and requirements
