Andi: bugs, several seem to be reaching closure today 7016, 7019. P2P jabber based sharing.
Grant: cake. birthdays. getting older. bugs.
Morgen: looking forward to closing out alpha4 and starting eim work. looking at one remaining bug, 7019 -- interested in hearing about the status. (Grant -- side effect from deferred deletion, modifications don't get propagated. Underlying bug, remove the occurrences list, doesn't propagate the way we'd expect. Several bugs at once. Grant has a unit test which reproduces the bug. Uses the memory conduit. Andi will take the bug.)
Bear: Recurring theme, sometimes the build environment makes things hard for the developers, spend some mental time on how can we simplify the build environment.
Build environment: readline issue
Bear is working on readln in python in windows. Bear needs to go make the python build have no parameters, then start adding them back. Heikki thinks it has never worked on windows. Bear says it supports it, but perhaps other dependencies on cygwin, etc. Andi suspects the way he made it work on mac could be made to work on windows. Bear: runs a different configure script on windows than osx. Andi: 2.4 doesn't depend on configure, go edit some file. Look at mac specific patch for osx. There is a file called modules? Commented out by default, you can comment it in correctly. Bear will ask on the Python list. Heikki Cygwin python. Grant: they manage to build readline support. Heikki/Bear: but they have a bunch of other support available with the cygwin libs. Bear: Twisted guys had to deal with this. Readline.py.
Development tools you use day to day, documentation etc. so they can be shared with everyone else.
svk: a small handful of people use it. Instructions for new developers, etc. Journal pages by vinu and jared have info, perhaps collect information. Email bear with links to names, build up informal list, post to dev list and make it public.
