Decisions and Next Steps

• Waiting for sets integration -> then we will rerun most of the performance tests to measure improvement.
• Talk to Philippe about timing for creating new events (in-place in the calendar) using menus.

Notes

• Aparna's team has CPIA script setup to help run performance/functional tests that measure timings.
• We will focus on the following top 5 areas
  • switching views - table view and calendar view
  • stamping
  • new event creation ( Right now creating a new event takes you to the table view. For 0.6, this should happen in-place and we need to find out when this feature will land).
  • Scrolling a large calendar
  • Importing a large calendar
  • Creating a new calendar
  • Additional -> we could look at startup

• Katie already did some research and found that in profiling new->event - sets stuff makes this slow.
• Further research should wait until we have all the new sets code integrated.

• Finished long running chandler tests and published results - Heikki will own further work on this.

• Data loader
  • We intend to have more discussion about this.
  • Leave the data loader for now and see where we are in a bit.

• Other:
  • Talk about holding the milestone if the sets stuff isn't integrated.
  • Nothing should be broken and existing features should work etc.
  • Katie and guys meeting daily to discuss this on IRC.

I vote for the "additional" to be startup time test. It is an important piece to a user, and will be mentioned in every review of the product and users will complain mercilessly if startup time is bad. -- HeikkiToivonen - 11 Aug 2005
