Send a message to the dev list/blog our target platform info for performance testing (Sheila)
Remove the extra RAM from the pc and linux test machines (Aparna)
Send out a note to dev with the latest test results after we re-run the tests on all the machines (minus ram, os reinstall on mac) (Aparna).
Proposal for the excel tool by the end of the week (Katie).
Talk to Morgen about alternatives to not lock up the UI if the import takes too long (Katie).
Notes
Target Hardware
Aparna sent request to chris to order Mac Mini.
In the meantime, Aparna reformatted kiluaea, reinstalled tiger and we will use this until the mac mini arrives.
Aparna will look after removing the extra RAM for pc and linux machines sometime this week.
Sheila will send out an email this week to dev and blog something summarizing the target machines we have decided on.
General Performance Testing
Anthony created the 1000 event calendar and uploaded in iCal and update the performance testing page.
This week, Anthony will try this on chandler on mac and record the results.
iCal handles events recurring events and Chandler doesn't so we won't worry about recurring events until we have this implemented.
After looking at Anthony's latest data, we decided that we should have some unit tests written and try and do some analysis to determine how to improve the performance is a couple of areas that we need to understand more about, particularly stamping and switching views. Katie will own this.
Aparna will send a message to the dev list letting people know the times and latest tests that anthony has run.
Before sending the message to the dev list, we will have Anthony re-run the tests on pc, linux after we remove the ram. We will also run them on the mac with the reinstall.
We will have Anthony do a comparison test for a 1000 and a 3000 event calendar to understand how much slower the latter is. We should try this on both iCal as well as Outlook.
Katie will talk to Morgen about alternatives if we can't get the import to be fast enough - ie: not lock up the app and have the import running in the background so the user can do other things.
