Hiring Discussion

QA

• Philippe hasn't spoken to Aparna about schedule yet.
• Talk about test plans, framework, schedule for Preview.
• Aparna's planning on coming back full time at the end of January.
• Katie:
  • We have QA IRC channel and QA mailing list.
  • QA work and plans are not really transparent to the project.
• Ted: not sure about the coverage and when certain things are getting done and when.
• Pull QA back into the regular forums so we have more information out there for people.
• Pull in Aparna and talk about current issues and how to fix some of the problems.

Board Meeting

• FYI, board meeting schduled for Dec 15th.

Performance

• Several conversations about performance and the app.
• Shared understanding that performance is the biggest risk to Preview.
• Chandler:
  • Measurements but not specific targets.
• Cosmo:
  • Simple set of metrics when we switch over from hibernate.
  • No targets for particular operations - variety of operations are wide.
  • Some focus - ie: PUT doesn't take longer than 1.5s
  • Don't have a good view of what it needs to be.
  • Need to measure things a bit differently on the server.
• We should have targets for Preview for both projects and set those. This determines whether or not we are ready.
• Look at how the Service behaves rather than Cosmo performance specifcally.
• Katie and Philippe will work with devs to make performance a priority
• Next Steps: Chandler
  • Revisit targets again
  • Get Andi and John working on biggest problem
  • Make sure we have no barriers to work on this
  • Set the tone - katie will talk about this at the staff meeting
