Staffing update

  • John Townsend discussed the Cosmo and Scooby job descriptions
  • Discussion of a candidate for the biz dev position

Core sprint week timing

  • 4 times per year seems too frequent. Majority of participants favor 3 times per year instead.
  • Coordinating with the summer picnic timeframe is too soon, but starting to plan for the next sprint.

Community topics

  • Planning to promote a requirement for earned committer rights for all contributors including interns.
  • Consensus appears to be pache licensing everywhere.
  • OSCON attendence will be light as other conferences seem better suited to current goals.

List culture

  • Katie believes we'd be stronger if we were more list-oriented over resolving topics in meetings
  • Discussion of how IRC fits in (more meeting than list)
  • Goals of list usage include inclusion of all participants, greater time allowed for deliberation
  • Rough consensus that QA and release candidates should be done in the open, two topics that have mosting taken place on private lists.

Staff meeting discussion

  • Discussion of staff meeting agenda, such as demos, etc

Email strategy review

  • Desktop proposal for 1.0/beta
  • Review of developing proposal: http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Journal/ZeroPointOneEmail20060508
  • Lists of target users and required features
  • Supplementing GTD workflows via email integration is more compelling than trying to replace people's existing desktop or webmail clients.
  • A list of integration scenarios that are more restricted than full integration is available on the above proposal.
  • Running a "normal", open-to-the-world generic email service has issues to build in-house (spam, overhead); outsourcing is a real option. But there may be various interesting ways to run limited email integration services without running a standard (SMTP+POP+IMAP+SPAM) email service.
