April 26th 2006 - Notes: How does Scooby differ from Chandler

Main Factors

  • unique physical constraints of the browser (layout, space)--> way we use space
  • usage patterns that are unique to the web (drive by usage) -->single task driven
  • ease of implementation (web vs client [wx widgets])
  • web UI standards (web design fundamentally different)-->implications for widgets

How is a scooby/chandler/cosmo platform-->the data hub.

How Scooby is the same as Chandler (Chandler = Scooby)

  • “domain model” semantics ie. fyi/cancel the same in both apps.
  • “visual syntax” (how we visually communicate the semantic) ie. the color red should be the same thing in both apps

Chandler (local repo) | Cosmo Data repository (-->structure) | Scooby -events, tasks, pictures etc.

  • semantic grouping things, communication items the same way --> those things will stay consistent
  • visual syntax -> consistency (but doesn't mean identical–in case by case basis)
  • basic features --> as they apply to semantics
