Cosmo UI Open Issues for Preview
Design session meeting took place on 12/5/06.
Attendees
- Mimi
- Bobby
- Matthew
- Travis
- Ted (on the phone)
- Jared
- Priscilla
Mimi/Priscilla went over the
'nice to have' with the Cosmo UI team. Going over basic workflows in which design would like to see the application at for Preview. Understandably not all the features would be able to make it into Preview so this was a first attempt to go over what design would see as a priority. Mimi went over the
'bare minimum' mock-ups with the team, and with that, the team was able to give a first crack at what would be considered less then a couple of days and more then one week worth of work.
Take away:
- list out features, ask dev to make some note of hard vs easy (less then a couple of days vs. more then a week)
- Summarize and ask ppl to add their evaluation of the 'nice to have' on the list. List of open issues on the bare minimum.
Open Issues

Add to iCal button - is that URL supposed to work for more than just Apple iCal? I thought it was app specific. I think downloading the calendar as an .ics file is a different feature which maybe needs to be reflected in the UI as well?
Which proposal are we going to do for subscribing with Chandler, iCal and as a feed.
Cleaning up the banner area - integrating the "Add to cosmo" text with the collection title.
Preview issues
Auto-save issue
Auto-triaging logic
- Based on event start date/time
- Based on alarm date/time
- When creating a new event item
Auto-resort of the triage status column
- Individual items are auto-resorted individually (e.g. mde's example about editing one item and then having another item re-triage to NOW separately)
Need to paginate? No
Need to be able to sort? At the very least, the Triage status column needs to be sortable.
Need to resize columns? No
Need to have ellipses for cut-off text? No
Comments:
- Jared - would like to see it behave more like a browser.
- Bobby - Like the in-line events details, problem with one click into the 'preview' event details workflow.
- week to have a week to move the right event details into the bottom
- table view - how to deal with really long lists in your table view? Best to display it on the client side. If it's over 100+ perhaps there needs to have pagination
- How to deal with the behavior of the back button?
- long forms save button
- difficulty to 'save - list when you put an item on the cal canvas but is a new item dynamic saved savingseveral triage states, from/to, read/unread display event dates
- Bare minimum only change triage in detail view
- Not being able to resize to columns for preview, much more work involved.
