Installation Questions

As I work thru the different scenarios for doing installations on the three platforms I've come across a couple questions/issues.

• Users will be asked whether to download missing libraries/modules - how should this information be presented? Do we want to present it in a couple styles:
  • basic - "You need to upgrade your system - is that ok?"
  • moderate - "The following items need upgrading: (list of items) - is that ok?"
  • advanced - present a dialog of items to be installed and let the user select if/where

• User privs need to be verified and if the user does not have root privs install everything into a prefix dir. (prompt for user choice?)
