Management Committee Meeting Notes, 6 September 2004
I. Hiring Discussion
Discussion of how quickly we might be able to hire and integrate new people. It's time to revisit this issue as well as the development of a hiring plan. Lisa suggests that a good way to do this is to look at each team and the scope of their responsibilities, rather than focusing on what we're trying to do for each milestone. Lori, Lisa and Katie to work on a hiring plan.
Mitch pointed out that we should remember OSAF may not need to do everything ourselves. For example, open source webdav development is important to Chandler, but not necessarily something we want to do ourselves. We should be looking for other projects, like in the webdav server space. We'll start talking with people in this space to figure out what makes sense. Lisa to take the lead here.
II. Documentation: Chao is going to come up with a list of tasks one can do in the 0.4 timeframe for which end-user documenation is needed. Then we'll figure out owners and time commitments to this. We also need a list of technical documentation as well for 0.4, which the engineering groups will drive. As part of 0.5 planning, we should include a documentation plan. Katie will take the lead in a documentation plan for the engineering groups at least for the 0.5.
III. Project Management Tools. Sheila is looking into tools we might possibly use. After she's had a chance to pull things together we'll have a discussion.
IV. Space planning for new space. We looked at the plans as they are so far, again based on the idea of groups of people sitting together is a suite-like configuration. We also talked about the requirements for a QA lab.
V. Security discussion. Importance of getting this right
