Original Westwood requirements/plan

Sources:

These are the requirements distilled from those documents excluding email features and clear pasadena requirements...

General

  • Nomadic usage and central repository: check
  • Westwood server was going to be pilot software -- not expected to deliver full scalability, robustness or administration tools - that was to be delivered over several releases.
  • TLS, SASL, X.509 certs, pluggable security extensions, configurable policies
  • Share all types of information with others
  • Replication
  • Handheld replication -- palms and pocket PC's

Calendaring

  • Designation/delegation
  • resource scheduling
  • Calendar overlays
  • iMIP, calendar standards OTOH "Chandler will not support full CAP interoperability in the Westwood timeframe"
  • Free-busy time lookups
  • Inviting groups

Contacts, users

  • Interoperability with LDAP - support "many different" LDAP schemas
  • Synchronize contact and group information?
  • Vague use cases -- unclear what stuff should be shared
