This chart compares 0.4 and 0.5 bug fix rates

  • We had more bugs in 0.5 when we started fixing them. I believe we didn't postpone bugs as aggressively as we did in 0.4 when bug fixing started.
  • We waited longer before postponing all the minor bugs (in fact in 0.5 we still haven't postponed all the Priority 3 bugs). Generally we're fixing more minor bugs in 0.5.
  • We are even getting features in that didn't make feature complete date in 0.5 (rather than postpone feature complete date)

Still, despite this lax management of bugs in 0.5, we think we're doing the right things to make the 0.5 release have a reasonably usable calendar and meet the goals of 0.5. We have to fix minor bugs someday.
