Software developer, Server Development

OSAF, a unique software organization dedicated to the creation and widespread adoption of open source application software, is looking for a software developer to extend existing open source WebDAV server technology (likely Slide) to support Chandler sharing and new (or in-progress) IETF standards such as CalDAV. Chandler clients share calendars and other data with other Chandler clients by synchronizing items to a WebDAV server collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new features that get integrated into open-source project
  • Improve scalability and performance
  • Work closely with existing open source developers on architecture and organization
  • Work with Chandler client developers on protocol usage
  • Work with OSAF product management on required server features

Requirements:

  • Experience with object oriented programming and design required, use of Java a plus
  • WebDAV, HTTP, XML, iCalendar and related standards experience useful
  • Experience or familiarity with any of Slide, tomcat, Apache, mod_dav, content management, Java servlets, J2EE, Ant and JDBC might be useful
  • Interest in Personal Information Management applications (email, calendar, tasks, notes, etc.) and/or higher-education software solutions
  • Enjoys working in uncharted waters, Highly motivated self starter
  • Experience in open source projects a plus
  • Passion for good user experiences and an attention to detail
  • Willingness to work in a transparent and open way
