α4 dogfood feedback

Setup

  • subscribing to Office calendar
  • publishing Home and Work calendars
  • publishing "book" calendar/task list: books, meeting times for my book group

  • 3 instances of Chandler: xp box at work, ppc mac laptop, xp box at home

Glitches that I notice

  • Create an event on one machine, and the sync happens after "New event" commit but before the commit of the details entered in the event. The effect is random "New events" on the shared calendar for a cycle or two before it all syncs up, which is mildly annoying. It happens fairly freqently.

  • Creating a new event can be surprisingly slow (the time from first click to something showing up on the calendar that you can start editing).

Looking forward to...

  • Using Cosmo to share calendar/tasks/notes with my husband. We track calendar-based data, both evening/weekend events as well as recording exercise (runs, bike rides, hikes).
  • Using Cosmo to share book information with my book group.
  • α5's purge button
  • α5's support for recurring events in the dashboard, ability to triage recurring items
  • Feedback about most recent edits who/when. I can imagine wanting to distinguish between clients for the share-with-self case.
