dogfood notes
I started to dogfood chandler today. I've been using ical just on my laptop. I also spend time on two desktop machines during the day (xp boxes, one at home and one at work). I'm looking forward to trying to use sharing to see my calendar on all 3 platforms. (Yes, we didn't target this use case, but I think it might be useful nonetheless). I haven't started that yet.
I exported 3 "calendars" from ical and imported them into chandler.
- The mini calendar doesn't sync with the main calendar the way I'd think it would -- if you click the mini-cal arrows it will select a different week without changing the main calendar. (Bug:3619)
- If I am looking at the mini calendar with 2 months, say november at the top, and then I select a week in december, it automatically jumps to december. I find this disorienting. (Bug:3368)
- I like ical's easy show/hide of detail view -- notice that most of the time I run without looking at the detail view when in calendar mode.
- Performance is the single worst problem.
- On mac osx, when I click on the python icon in the doc, I expect it to bring Chandler to the fore, which it doesn't if Chandler has been minimized into the doc. Bug:4156
- Would be nice to see indication of which items are recurring and which items have more info than is shown in summary (notes, even location)
- Toolbars not reflecting state is annoying Bug:3438
oops -- at the end of the day I hosed my data by quitting and restarting with --create. DOH! Lost a few events tomorrow.
- wonder if we should auto export/save calendar data on quit...
- looks like import is a bit borked on latest version...
