Visual Exploration of Large Data Set

Proposed by : Philippe Bossut

Skills : good UI understanding, statistic and algorithmics

This is a research project. Navigating in large data set is difficult. Methods based on search and sort have limits in the sense that they require the user to have some idea of what to search and do not allow for closely related but not hit by the query items to be shown. Alternative methods that are based on segmentation and projection planes deduced from MVA have been proved useful in other fields to visually explore large dataset. We propose to develop a different "summary view" for Chandler to display a collection as a set of points projected in plane and allow click based navigation through that projection.
