I think I've posted this idea to the list before. Certainly there are other pages on the wiki, but since I can't find them, I'm re-posting. The idea here is basically to "summarize" date/time information in the detail view into 2 lines of text. When users click into the area (we may find that we need an explicit "edit" button), the text summary magically turns into the date/time fields and pulldowns we all know and love.
When the user is done "editing" the date/time fields via tabbing or mousing out of the date/time fields, they return back to "display" mode.
Questions
- What are the internationalization issues with doing this? Is there any way to modularize English so that we can try out some design ideas in a low-cost way without having to worry about making it work across all languages?
Comments
- I think the best way to represent recurrence is with a (weekly) or (monthly) at the end of the date/time text. Tuesday, Mar 13, 2006 at 5PM PST (weekly)
- Also if we're going to include the recurrence rule in the date/time summary, we should probably put the recurrence field above the status field, so that they all appear as a group when you click into the date/time summary to edit.
