Longhorn/Vista release

  • Do we get a copy of this? Lisa will ask Chris
  • Mimi ought to play with this...
  • Chandler will not support a new Windows release yet -- unlike with Tiger -- we're not going to fix people's build problems who upgrade to Vista

Set/Collection Branch

  • When?
    • Apps team preferences for merging branch? Other than John general eagerness to merge ASAP
    • We should run through acceptance tests daily -- the whole suite so we have an idea of trajectory
    • Nobody seems to be blocked by not having merged yet
    • Reconvene tomorrow night to revisit whether we're ready (and daily until we decide to go)
  • How?
    • No special preparation for Bear to do...
    • Just pick some morning when John's available?
    • Note that you can't just call the branch "the trunk" and move on from there -- it would create a gap in the history tree.

What's involved in packaging

Already have?

  • Basic install/uninstall

Must have

  • No readme, tutorial yet -- certain amount of documentation people expect
  • Need install fixes for Linux to avoid re-installing stuff that's already there? can get outside help?
  • Be able to make data upgrade and stability guarantees
  • "About" box
  • Python Eggs
  • CPIA API review/update
  • App icon

Nice to have

  • Help built-in
  • MSI installer for Longhorn
  • Multi-brand Linux installs: the debian way plus the redhat way plus...

Other thoughts

  • Ask UW what they think needs to be done in order to do [something] with Chandler -- use cases -- maybe they don't care about linux installs
