Agenda changes
  • also ask about whether QA interns can have commit privileges in sandbox. Answer: of course

Chandler build, release, milestone and version numbers

  • It's confusing to use the Bugzilla "Version" field. We're currently working on 0.5.04 and the last milestone was 0.5.03 as we work towards 0.6. So when Aparna finds a bug does she choose 0.5 or 0.6?
  • Even if we decide what to use, it's not granular enough.
  • We speak of milestones and releases as "Oh Six" (the current release) and "Oh Four" (the current milestone). This is confusing.

Proposed solutions:

  • Can Bear add the SVN revision number to the build identifier?
  • QA will enter SVN revisions numbers into bug text and follow up on adding a field to bug forms
  • Leave bugzilla version field as it is
  • In 0.7 development move to a different numbering scheme? Aparna will propose what we discussed and see if it's generally acceptable.

What are (or should be) our top five worries? Identify 0.6 risks so we can be sure we are on top of them.

Candidates:

  • Managing expectations; 0.6 is not for consumers; how to manage data (import/export)
  • Mac Toolbar unusable in wxWidgets
  • 400 teeny GUI bugs targetted for release
  • GUI polish: risk that it may look crappy
  • GUI smoothness: clicking, changing focus,
  • Recurrence
  • Item Collections - destabilizing?
  • Sidebar coming together -- will subtle problems here cause users to feel it's broken?
  • Keyboard shortcuts -- is the calendar usable without this
  • Performance in sharing, import/export, navigating. Sharing issues may be either protocol or repository problems, calendar import/export might be due to repository or iCalendar parsing, and navigation might be due to repository or GUI slowness.

List we came to after discussion:

  1. Expecation Management: Lisa will own and followup with Mitch
  2. GUI polish and smoothness: Philippe owns
  3. Performance, all aspects: Katie owns
  4. Sidebar coming together: Philippe owns
  5. Architecture changes and stabilization (incl. recurrence and item collections): Katie owns
