Based on our last logo meeting on 4/11/07. I'm still trying to grasp and understanding of a the visual style we'd like to represent for the Chandler logo. Part of the dilemma is that there is not one target user using Chandler. There are multiple target users who range in age, race, sex, the uniform they put on to go to work. So how are we defining this? We're looking at Chandler to be the things we define. If Chandler was a person, what would this person look like? What kind of car would Chandler drive? Some things which are still undefined. If Chandler drove a truck, would it be an old beat up Ford or a fancy new Cadillac Escalade? Well that's simple…Chandler would never drive a truck. Chandler is environmentally conscious. Think Toyota Prius instead—though Mimi felt it was something more like a Mini.
I think there are just way too many fuzzy meanings behind the logo design and it's not clear to me on where the direction of this logo should go. The following are sketches are to support the current logo design of the dog. There were just some technical issues I have w/ the current design, but it's fair to say a few of us found this to be an issue, including another designer. In the first sketch I had attempted to deal with the left/right problem we'd have to deal with in the web UI. Though agreed the look of the dog was too sympathetic, yearning and reminiscent feeling which is not what we're after. The second sketch is taking on the approach of what Pieter had mentioned once about a hunting dog and how it points. Having purpose. Standing strong. Evoking confidence. All ideas were in the end were dropped and pursued.
