  • design discussions: dogfood feedback, feature requests, blue sky ideas
  • pre-spec discussions of new features: schema upgrade
  • fogel book: what did people get out of it, what are 10 things we could do that we aren't doing now
  • import/export plugin discussion
  • best practices in python coding: exception handling
  • use of the logging system
  • jabber -- should we be using jabber instead of irc and aim? what are the obstacles?

• IRC is bad for broadcasting information, better for q & a session or back and forth discussion to get to a decision

  • Installed and configured JRockit JVM on Cosmo Production server (Halua)

• Plan
  • Work with JRockit Mem and profiling tools to find memory leaks
  • Evaluate other profiling tools including OptimizeIt^? and JProbe

Andi

• fixed, resolved, filed or otherwise dealt with bugs 4756, 4772, 4773, 4767, 4778, 4779, 4776, 4784, 4787, 4791, 4798.
• released PyLucene 1.0.1 (freshmeat).
• moved PyLucene 1.0.1 source to branch to make room for PyLucene 1.9 on trunk.
• PyLucene 1.9 now builds from java Lucene sources HEAD, all unit tests pass.

PJE

• Progress
  • finished schema API developer's guide (draft, no API reference yet)
  • Work on Bug:4706 and Bug:4702
  • Partial .egg-info implementation fix for Debian
  • Updated setuptools version parser to treat 'NN-rcX' releases the same as 'NNrcX' releases (the previous rule, where a dash always meant "post-release" proved to be unintuitive and error-prone in practice; people seem to want to include a dash for release candidates even though they usually don't include it for other kinds of version numbers)
• Plan
  • Add API reference to schema dev guide
  • Misc. schema API cleanups on the trunk (rename Role to Descriptor, remove default null view arguments, incorporate new guide doc into unit tests)
  • Implement --single-version-externally-managed option for setuptools install so that Debian management will allow Python eggs as Debian-installed system packages
  • Support building shared libraries in setup.py (so PyICU can be distributed as an egg)

Grant

• Progress
  • Band-Aid fix for 4712 (Unable to share large calendars on Cosmo Demo), until we can resolve garbage collection-induced catatonia on the server.
  • Played a little with Todd's hammer.py script; by converting it to use zanshin/twisted, it's a handy performance comparison tool.
  • Wrote up zanshin API documentation, updating 0.6 specs to reflect changes.

  • Worked with Andi on an index bug, and on how hasLocalAttributeValue should behave, leading to Andi creating a hasTrueValue API
  • Started editing the 0.6 Recurrence spec
