Followup Items and Conclusions
from the CSG Higher Education Recalibration Meeting held at OSAF 8/19/2004
- Take a harder look at security around scripting, parcels, updates, downloads, and installs (from HigherEdRequirementsUpdate20040819)
- Follow up with (talk to Jeff McCullough and/or Michael Gettes) about campus event calendaring (from HigherEdRequirementsUpdate20040819)
- Pieter will talk with Jeff 1st week in Sept. as followup. Set up a meeting with Jeff, Chao, Mimi, Sheila to get a brain dump on event scheduling terminology, UI suggestions, etc.
- Mitch noted that Jack's comment that we "can't overstate the importance of security" is a sea change to be noted.
- Need to followup/recalibrate with Lisa on WebDAV and Shibboleth (over 100 campuses have currently deployed Shibboleth)
- Several of the CSG reps will e-mail aparna at osafoundation.org with details on offer to provide test IMPAP server accounts
- We need to pay attention to the Sakai pproject
- Oren's discussion re. What the universities should recommend regarding Chandler vs. Mozilla/Thunderbird/Sunbird - Mitch noted that clarity on this issues is important and to flag as an action item.
- Chandler must have some automatic update functionality. Refinement might include several categories of updates, Critical/Security, nice-to-have feature enhancements, etc. Request for 3rd party parcels to also be included in the automatic updates, especially for security patches.
