Design exploration

Given that Chandler is a virtual web of inter-linked items: Items pointing to other items. Items point to other collections. Collections pointing back to items. Collections pointing to other collections, etc. How do you browse such a non-linear, non-polar, expanding in every direction thing without getting disoriented?

What if you could browse Chandler the way you browse your file system in OS X: with multiple vertical panes...leaving a literal breadcrumb trail of how you started and you got to where you are now in the Chandler web?
