Desktop Team Meeting December 11th, 2007

Agenda

• 0.7.4: 0.7.4 Landing date is tomorrow! (see Release Process for a definition of the Landing date and see the 0.7.x Schedule for a refresh on dates). The script recording branch though already landed and, as far as I know, there's no branch waiting to land so, we're fine. Please note that we will branch just after the new year so please focus on your pending 0.7.4 bugs and try to expedite that release.
• 0.7.future and 1.0: We are aiming for a 0.7.5 that will be a 1.0. Mimi created a limited bug lists that we'll using to prioritize what's left in the 0.7.future queue. We'll discuss that plan at the meeting.
• Pilot project: news from Grant, Jeffrey and PJE on how things are going on this front.

Things are doing fine. No issue here.

0.7.future and 1.0

People have some concerns with some of Mimi's proposal (the Notes button in particular). Need to answer Mimi and Sheila's threads on the mailing lists.

Pilot project

Next stage is to work with the data model. Stearns to help on how to architecture the DV.

Evangelizing

We got lots of download with 0.7.3 (1200 in one day), not to the level of interest of the very beginning of the project but better than any other day from Preview.

• In the SF offices last week: brainstormed with Mimi on how best to interface the Chandler world with external tools including an SMS interface to Chandler Hub and a Thunderbird to Chandler Hub plug-in. Mimi sent a mail regarding the discussions to the design list.
• Working on Bug#8658 Missing documentation on en_GB locale requirement
• Working on Bug#11507 Emails sent from Chandler don't display First Name, Last Name in the From column
• Have fix for Bug#11577 wx stock labels in English when starting on non-English system

• Continued additions to the rearch calendar widget; selection, week changing, a bridge to the Trellis, the beginnings of dragging

John

• Landed recorded scripts update. It addresses all the bugs logged in bugzilla related to recorded scripts except 8953.

• The first round of recorded scripts are updates of the old versions. I tracked down and fixed all the lingering problems with these tests.
• I wrote a first cut of a "human readable" description of the recorded script which gets added to the top of the script as a comment.
• Started adding new recorded scripts tests. This lead to some new problems, some of which I fixed, but others remain. I still need to add bugs to bugzilla for all of them.
• Went through all the existing recorded scripts bugs in bugzilla, verified that the were fixed, logged or fixed new problems and updated the status of all the bugs.

Morgen

• Plugging away at sharing bugs
• Increased focus on unexpected items popping to NOW, and being marked unread -- working with Mimi/Aparna on a "control" test collection

Philippe (pbossut)

• Finished French localization for 0.7.3, got it tested by some folks in France
• 0.7.3 shipping: wrote release notes, posted to announce and OSAF blog
• Management duties
• Evangelizing in France : translated the Chandler wikipedia page in French, posted on framasof and linuxfr, created a Chandler notice in framasoft

• Triaged bugs for 0.7.4
• more work on multiweek design
• worked on these bugs:
  • Bug#11434: Right clicking in month view causes a traceback
  • Bug#11624: Conflict on deleted recurring item causes traceback
  • Bug#11450: Traceback on click of "view 1 pending change" red bar in detail view (re-commit)

Robin

• Released wxPython 2.8.7.1.
• Merged wxPython 2.8.7.1 into the OSAF wx tree and rolled it over to Chandler. Tracked down and fixed a couple bugs that showed up in the tinderbox.
• Closed or handed off these bugs:
  • Bug#11582: Land the wx tarball for wxPython 2.8.7.1
  • Bug#11131: communication icons in the toolbar rendering grey chrome
  • Bug#11181: webbrowser.open is unreliable
  • Bug#11194: clicking on outgoing mail in the accounts dialog scrolls it on the top hiding the other 2 options
  • Bug#11428: Kernel protection error double clicking in calendar
  • Bug#11433: Recorded scripts finds bug in wxGrid on Leopard
• Merged all wxPython 2.8.x changes from the last few months into the 2.9 tree, and worked on getting wxPython 2.9 to a compilable state, and started to track down some bugs, etc.
• Helped Jeffrey with some wx questions.
• Fixed display bug in wxMac toolbar when using the non-native toolbar.
• Various community support activities via email and IRC.
