Desktop Team Meeting August 7th, 2007

Agenda

  • Preview (15 min): race to ZBR. Please, please focus on your remaining bugs, fix them and give an update for each of them before the end of each day! The update can take the form of an email to me, an IRC chat or an added comment to the bug itself (I track them all). We basically are slipping day to day now till we hit the criteria for the milestone (0 bug assigned).
  • 0.7.1 (15 min)
    • We'll be focusing on a small set of areas we want to iron out though they can't be considered Preview blocking:
      • interop (grant, jeffrey, morgen)
      • i18n (bkirsch, philippe, reid)
      • Test framework (john, dan)
      • Smattering of bugs here and there but as few as possible...
    • Schedule: Date floating right now, 9/24
    • How do we do that? Several solutions that we should discuss in meeting.
  • SoC and intern update (5 min):
  • Misc : (5 min)
    • Sprint week and celebration: Which week (proposed by Katie) will work best for the sprint/celebration week?
    • Have something to announce? Issues to bring to the group? Please take the stage, er, mic.

Minutes

Preview

  • Reid: some bugs depend on data on the server so we can't really solve them. We'll clear the target milestone and review in Bug Council.
  • Jeffrey: some bugs could be taken by others. We reassigned 2 of Jeffrey's bugs to others during the meeting.

0.7.1

  • Debate about where on svn we should get 0.7.1 code to live:
    • Heikki: do 0.7.1 from the trunk
    • Morgen, Stearns: vote for trunk
    • John: we need to do a bug scrub for script recording first, some bugs not that critical
    • Philippe: put that discussion @chandler-dev

SoC and intern update

  • Dry run of presentation today in Whoville

Misc

  • Sprint week and celebration: People to answer Katie's email
  • John: Doesn't receive the Bugzilla request for review. How come? No one else saw that. Heikki to help him to check his Bugzilla settings.
  • John: Do we have a plan to get users? Yes, see Ted's soft launch plan @ pr list.

Status

Andi

Brian (bkirsch)

  • Your status here...

Bryan (stearns)

  • Got to zero bugs
  • Took bug 9507 from John; I've got a patch and we're making it acceptable.

Grant

Jeffrey

  • Your status here...

John

  • Reviewed Jacob's script patch and fixed all the problems except one
  • fixed bug#10157: Bug in NewEvent CPIA event handler
  • Helped Reid with CPIA events to display mail message in detail view
  • Fix what I thought was a feature in bug fix #10157 that selects the collection that the quick entry item is added to.
  • Spend time review various bug fixes.

  • Rereviewed Jacob's fix for the problem I found last time and helped him get the bug approved for Preview.
  • Fixed heikki's bug #8312: backspace closes feedback dialog
  • Fixed bug#9501: Remove the Save Search button on the toolbar
  • While working on a fix for bug#9352: chandler beach balling after search I spent almost 2 days trying to track down a repository problem while trying to display search results as they appear. After I was finally able to get hold of Andi he tracked it down to a very obsure problem that I suspect only he could figure out. He said "You hit a tricky issue, not exactly a repository bug". The result: you can't search for items, and as you get receive them, add them to a collection and commit the changes. That leads to what he described as a "big no-no".
  • Helped out Ed on a MarkupBar bug
  • Notice that the BlockViewer and RepositoryView are broken and found the problem and a fix for it.
  • Fixed bug#9501: Remove the Save Search button on the toolbar
  • Fixed bug#10250: Jacob's script recording menu updates
  • Have fix for bug#9352: chandler beach balling after search -- awaiting review
  • Stearns was nice enough to help out fixing my bug#9507: Users' UI changes are not committed right away, therefore..., which I will review

Morgen

  • Your status here...

Philippe (pbossut)

  • Bug triage, bug triage and more bug triage: most of my activity is focusing on driving Chandler Desktop to ZBR and that's it...
  • Hosted the intern IRC chat
  • Updated wiki docs for Preview (Release Notes, Known Issues, Feature List, Troubleshooting)

Phillip (PJE)

  • Your status here...

Reid

  • Your status here...

Robin

  • Helped Jeffrey with Bug#9706
  • Worked on improving and simplifying the wxPython installer build on OS X.
  • Updated the Debian/Ubuntu build control files for wxWidgets and wxPython so they now more closely track the standards for Python packages on Debian. Multiple versions of the extension modules are built if the platform officially supports more than one at a time, and the python-central tool is used for managing the .py files in multiple site-packages dirs if needed. Working on getting this build included with Ubuntu 7.10.
  • Attended OSCON 2007, and one session from the Ubuntu Live conference as well.
  • Fixed Bug#9969 Enter to close a calendar lozenge adds a carriage return
  • Fixed Bug#10033 should the reminders dialog box be re-sizeable?
  • Fixed Bug#9346 DV fields uneditable when keeping collection out of dashboard.
  • Dealt with server crash and other problems on the account where the wxWidgets SVN is hosted, as well as my personal email and wxPython sites. Had to restore parts of the SVN repository from a backup after it came back up and we discovered some corruption.
  • Working on getting making a new wxPython release.
  • Mentoring of GSoC student and other GSoC related activities.
  • Various community support activities via email and IRC.
