Apps Team Meeting February 8th, 2007

Agenda

  • Question du Jour : (5 min) Ideas for intern project?
  • Alpha5 schedule: (15 min) The FC has been moved 3 weeks off last week (see Engineering meeting notes) giving us a little air to complete the EIM work, Edit/Update and Conflict UI. I'll present the new plan as we discussed it during that meeting.
  • Alpha5 progress: (15 min) Our bug count is way high. A quick update on your current work items would be great. If you need help or are at a point where you can give help, please speak up.
  • Issues and Announcements : (5 min) Have something to announce? Issues to bring to the group? Please take the stage.

Minutes

Question du Jour

Ideas for intern project?
  • John: more ways to get more stuff (get stuff from different places, interop, import)
  • Jeffrey: Calconnect interop
  • Reid: P2P (expanding on Andi), MS Exchange interop
  • Bryan: Documentation!!!

Alpha5 schedule

  • Concern about performance work (enough time to do this?)
  • We might need to rework some UI item loading when EIM work lands (case of cross ref between blocks and items for instance or stuff like calendar colors), need to list the attributes and elements that won't be saved under EIM

Alpha5 progress

  • Bryan: edit/update is pretty difficult to understand, what is the target? Autotriage, those things are not in Bugzilla because too fuzzy. Need to prune the newly updated dashboard spec to get to what we need. Philippe to work on that with Mimi.
  • Reid: working on expando and edit/update button,
  • Jeffrey: EIM for events, get recurrence to work especially modif to recurrence, dogfooding hampered by bugs in recurrence since the branch landed but finishing EIM more important (on the critical path with Morgen)
  • Brian: residual requests on dialog, ideas on POP/IMAP and work on Edit/update workflow
  • Robin: no blocking issue
  • John: needs to converge on Search, fixing bugs in script recording now for QA

Status

Brian

  • Your status here...

Bryan

  • Worked on edit/update UI in the detail view, but it ended up requiring email domain model changes; I didn't want to collide with Brian's massive mail update, so I set that aside to work on...
  • Triage status. It's a moving target, still. Working on sharing & recurrence issues now, then I'll go over the revised dashboard spec to see what Mimi added.

Jeffrey

  • Worked on EIM record export, with lots of back and forth about the syntax and behavior for recurrence
  • Fixed a big performance bug by making sure we generated recurrenceEnd for recurring events
  • Fixed recurrence bugs, worked a lot with Bobby on Cosmo/Chandler recurrence interop

John

  • Spent about half my week writing emails to the Design List
  • Spent most of the other half fixing bugs in script recording
  • Installed Vista and tried Chandler. There were several problems, but it looks like we are close to being able to run.
  • I'm planning on leaving for Utah, where I'll be working remotely, the last week of February and staying through the end of March

Philippe

  • Various KEI level duties (space, recruiting)
  • Completed all contract work for 2007
  • 0.7alpha5 bug triage and dogfooding
  • Precise the end game schedule and milestone definitions and criteria
  • Fixed Bug#7872

Reid

  • worked on Bug#7766 (Send button should turn into Update button when user edits sent/received messages)
    • almost done - am hooking up a BlockEvent
    • for now it will just change the bitmap of the "Send" button to look like "Update"
  • worked on Bug#6764 (Implement expando Date Time field)
    • still unsure whether to go with an AETypeOverWhenCtrl or a more general AETypeOverBlockCtrl
    • the former would be hard-coded for time values, whiel the latter would be a more general string/block thing
    • for now sticking with a time-value-specific solution (not a lot of time), but it shouldn't be too much work to refactor it later (will keep that refactoring in mind while working on it)

Robin

  • Ported my recent changes from the 2.8 tree to the 2.9 tree.
  • Rolled the r154 wx tarball over to Chandler.
  • Fixed Bug#7690: Cancel button (in wx.SearchCtrl) should only appear when there is text in the widget
  • Fixed Bug#7706 (for Windows and Linux): Pop-up alarms foreground entire Chandler app
  • Fixed Bug#7928: Dragging events gives GTK error and locks UI
  • Fixed Bug#6845: Resizing the feedback window shows list control corner transparent to text in control
  • Fixed Bug#7698: 2 finger scrolling not working or very slow
  • Helped Andi with some wx.GraphicsContext questions and issues.
  • Various community support activities via email and IRC.
