    • Styles (5 min) - We had a talk on the subject Monday. Jed will update us on his document.
    • Functional Tests (5 min) - Still keep breaking. Ideas to make this work?
  • Misc (5 min)
    • GeekTalks - Is there someone willing to address a topic next week?
    • Self Assigned Project - Please post your project in the table so we know what we have going. Any question on the process?
    • Kruggle - Ken send us some licenses. I'll check out who wants one (limited supply).

Minutes

Notes: the minutes here under do not repeat for each topic the summary provided in the agenda.

Question du Jour

Question du Jour: What can we do to make this meeting more efficient?
  • Bryan : having this question in advance!... which we did... smile
  • David : not much, current efficiency of the meeting not bad compared with meetings in general
  • Jeffrey : more focus and more summarizing
  • Alec : no laptops
  • John : better phone bridge
  • Reid : same as John
  • Philippe : having a note taker not being the meeting driver

0.7 Planning and Progress

Bugs and Tasks

We have lots of bugs logged and we are still logging more tasks (refining 0.7 new features work). The glide path needs to be too steep to get to alpha2 so we need to push some bugs/tasks may be.

Philippe needs to check with people who are over committed to understand where we stand exactly.

Stamping

How can we converge on the current dev list discussion?
  • We should separate the design discussion from the implementation discussion.
  • Give Mimi a chance to come up with her storyboard a planned.
  • We don't need to converge on this for alpha2 : for alpha2, we will use stamping as it works today (with its shortcomings) and see experimentally how it fares.
  • No need to converge urgently and held a series of meetings then. Let's continue the very good discussion on the list in the background.

Styles

Jed sick today. Didn't get an update then.

Functional Tests

We are running them before committing code. They are more reliable now. We are on the path to make that actually work.

Misc

  • Geek Talk : No Geek Talk scheduled next week. Everybody trying to make headways into alpha2.
  • Self Assigned Project : Several commented that they'll wait till they make progress on alpha2 and get some visibility before committing to an SAP.
  • Kruggle : Use 2 for the Apps team office, 2 for for Katie's team.

People

  • Reviews : We'll use the regular 1:1 scheduled with people over the 2 weeks from March 27th to April 7th to held the review. Philippe to confirm to people individually.
  • Interns : Continuing to screen and review resumes. No drop dead date if you want to refer someone but we need to have complete list by mid April.

Status

Alec

  • Fixed bug 5258 - new events weren't automatically editable
  • big cleanup of 'hints' in calendar - much more flexible to deal with specific changes in a collection
  • fixed bug 2749 - making 'Delete' key work on the mac again
  • fixed bug 4480 and 4481 - make the enter key automatically edit an attribute in the sidebar/summary table
  • fixed bug 4484 - don't prompt the user when deleting not-mine collections
  • lots of discussion about the stamping issue, in both design and implementation
  • filed lots of dashboard task bugs (16 of them) to match 0.7 spec - will be adding bugs to the spec itself soon

Bryan

  • Your status here...

Jed

  • Your status here...

Jeffrey

  • Finished reviews
  • Sat in on Calconnect CalDAV call at Cyrus Daboo's invitation, to help give a client perspective on CalDAV
  • Integrated hCalendar patch originally written at sprint (it needed a bit of tweaking)
  • Corresponded with person interested in working on hCard and vCard 2.1 in vobject
  • Continued discussion about free/busy implementation with Morgen
  • Inter-office/CASH meeting, pushed process forward
  • Stamping meeting, stamping reengineering writeup
  • Began setting up Ubuntu and OS X environments for working on platform specific drag and drop issues

John

  • Finished implementing and testing the "non-industry standard automatic column resizing" wxGrid feature on Windows. I still need to test on the other platforms, SWIG a few routines and submit a wxWidgets patch. This should fix a boat load of bugs.
  • Discovered a major design flaw in wxScrolledWindow: the Virtual Size is currently limited to be a multiple of the scrolling increment. This explains most of the reason why we couldn't make scrollbars go away.
  • Did a phone meeting with Darshana. We need to sort out how much time she can work. Also, after installing 0.6.1 on XP, Chandler consistently crashes when she runs it.
  • My email server's certificate expired and I wasted way to much time trying to straighten it out
  • Ran out of disk space. Ordered a new disk that is 4 times bigger.

David

  • wx work:
    • cleaned up wxMac DnD code
    • fixed build issue with recent wxDisplay changes; working on another one
    • fixed a bunch of warnings caused by recent GetCount API changes
  • continued to work on bugs: 4859, 5263
  • started work on wxGrid - wxColumnHeader integration
  • finished peer reviews

Philippe

  • Posted lots of update for the Apps team on the Wiki, added 0.7alpha2 bug curves
  • Check 0.7alpha2 work load with devs
  • Updated the Self Assigned Projects Program Wiki
  • Geek Talk on Styles with Jed (took and posted notes)
  • Participated to the Stamping discussions (design session and lists)
  • Started to write final reviews
  • Reviewed intern candidates

Reid

  • wrapping up MultiStateButton
    • prototype works, including rollover
    • cleaning it up, making it "real"
    • using excellent suggestions from IRC r.e. managing a heterogeneous list of strings and tuples
  • waiting for wx tarball/green tinderbox to make antialiasing available
  • starting to look at printing
  • What can we do to make this meeting more efficient?
    • better speakerphone/microphones
    • projection TV showing IRC channel?
      • typing is much easier than making oneself heard over the speakerphone

Robin

  • Integrated some enhanced and new classes from the wxPython community.
  • Backported the Scintilla and wxSTC updates to the 2.6 branch.
  • Worked on testing with SWIG 1.3.29. Switched my CVS HEAD branch (wxPython 2.7) over to use this version of SWIG. SWIG-1.3.29 is scheduled to be released any day now.
  • Still preparing for a 2.6.3 release. The wxWidgets team is dragging its feet a bit, but it should happen soon.
  • Worked on Bug#4913. Talked with David to clarify why the version number and other things have been kept back at the old 2.6 version when merges have been done. Found that with the new version of bakefile we can probably move the OSAF wx makefiles to being generated again, but still need to figure out what needs to be done for the OSAF version of the VC++ project file.
