Apps meeting 10 May 2005

Agenda

  • Specs
  • Schedule
  • Demo D
  • Engineering Issues
  • People

Summary

  • Plan : Get to a comprehensive SWAG of all 0.6 tasks and bugs by next week (really close now). Make progress on Prio 1 bugs. Stabilize Demo D for Mitch.
  • Progress : Specs moving forward very well, Recurrence and Time Zone hotest items on the spec list. Tasks getting logged in Bugzilla and SWAG getting in.
  • Problems : Some concerns already on time required to complete components like Detail View. Need more work to refine estimates.

Actions

  • Philippe : set up spec content and plan for the assigned specs
  • All : log tasks in Bugzilla
  • Code review: Philippe to write a proposal and circulate among ourselves, Lisa, Katie and Heikki

Minutes

Specs

Great progress on Sheila and Mimi side

  • Detail View, Calendar under control
  • Recurrence under intense review and discussion
  • Time Zone needs to be specified

Schedule

  • Bugzilla : Completed the convention document. First set of tasks and SWAG entered. Not complete though.
  • First view at data : Really huge variations between components and between devs. Bryan the long pole but I'm expecting others to be as long once the tasks are all in.
  • Those data do not even take into account:
    • Debug and stabilization period
    • Of schedule tasks (OSCon, etc...)
    • Influence of other teams on App (e.g. doc and dev platform will have an influence on John's work load)
  • Next steps
    1. Philippe to meet with devs on a 1:1 basis to review priorities and tasks including P3 and P4 bugs. Move those bugs to Future if punt and use the full range of priorities so that we can schedule milestones.
    2. Set milestones and assign bugs/tasks to them (5.03 end of May, 5.04 end of June, 5.05 later)
    3. Get consensus from management on features and timing
    4. We have a plan!... :)

Demo D

  • We branched the code (Demo_D_2005) so that we can stabilize the demo while allowing others to check in 0.6
  • John to work on code, Philippe with Mitch on demo script
  • Philippe to send e-mail to the Dev list to explain what the branch is and how we use it

Engineering Issues

  • Tiger build: David has one that works today... Stay tuned...
  • Holy Grail of Chandler debugging (Eclipse): John to work on this as soon as Demo D under control
  • Linux machines: we have them, Chris too busy with mail server last week, ETA end of this week

People

  • Alec going in paternity leave next week, David taking over some Calendar tasks. Meeting this afternoon to review calendar list (bugs and tasks) and Alec passing info to David
  • Interns : Yes, we'll have some! Brendan and Arel to be coming end of June for 2 months
  • Space : John, Donn and Philippe to move to H room. Interns will be in F with the rest of the team. Stay tuned for the exact date of the move (within a couple of weeks for sure, pretty light weight affair anyway)
  • OSCon : Management team to make the list of who will be going

Status

Philippe

  • Refined and completed Bugzilla tracking doc several times. We have now consensus on the conventions.
  • Tracked the entering of tasks under the new system and gathered updated SWAG data.
