Account Set Up Proposal
At some point when I was dogfooding Chandler (I think it was still 0.6 at the time) I was having a really hard time remembering to 'set up my account' and to 'restore/publish my collections'. This was before you could restore your collections in the 'test' menu. My point was that it seemed only the advanced users were going to be able to understand how to set up an account/restore collections in the current UI. This proposal was to create an easier experience for the not so advanced users.
I started working on these mock ups/storyboards and remember meeting with Sheila/Mimi sometime back in July 2006. I think we settled on the fact that advanced users would be able to use the current UI and we would revisit this later to create a better UI and help the not so advanced users.

Reason for proposal on the current UI: All the choices on the first screen seem overwhelming to the (non-power) users when the user just wants to use the 'calendar' features.
To set up an account wizard that is used infrequently help s guide the user. It does not require multiple places to sign up and publish but a consistent flow.
Setting up an account is done infrequently and some users may be new to the process. Though most likely there are the power users who will set up the account. There is an advanced screen available for those users. This screen is located one step deeper so that it does not distract from people. who want to set up Chandler without the e-mail functions.
Storyboard
- Step 1 From the 'File' menu, user selects 'Add Account':
- Step 2 Account pop up:
- Step 3 User selects 'Chandler sharing service':
- Step 4A User fills in ID/PW:
- Step 4B Server Settings dialog for advanced users (not everyone would need to go into this dialog: _Note for Chandler sharing service, the info. would be already in the form fields by default_
- Step 5 Verifying Account:
- Step 6 Account set up complete: Add at the bottom of the dialog it should probably say something like: "Select 'done' and begin using Chandler! Learn more about Chandler"
