How to Help Improve the Glossary
Requesting a Glossary Entry
As you explore the Chandler Wiki, if you find a term that seems to have a special meaning in Chandler but you can't find a Glossary entry for it, please request one!
Step 1 - Make sure the term is likely to still be in use
Before requesting an entry, check and see when it was last edited (at the bottom of the page), and which WikiWeb the term came from (the WikiWeb for this page is Glossary, you can see which WikiWeb you're in by looking at the top left of the page). If the WikiWeb is Jungle or Journal, the page is more than a year old, and there's no Glossary entry for it, there's a good chance the term you saw isn't used in Chandler today.
Otherwise:
Step 2 - Decide how to ask
There are several good ways to request a glossary entry.
- If the term really needs a glossary entry, consider creating a bug entry for Product: Chandler, Category: Documentation, this way someone will be sure to notice that the glossary entry is needed.
- If you know who should create the entry, you can email them directly.
- You can add a note to the bottom of the wiki page where the term is used, asking that it be explained.
- You can create an empty term in the Glossary.
Step 3 - Adding an empty Glossary entry
To create a new glossary entry, follow the directions at
AddingNewGlossaryEntries. Link to the page where you found the term, and in the
GlossaryForm, choose an appropriate Display Name and check the
TermNeedsDefinition box.
Filling out an Empty Glossary Entry
If you're familiar with Chandler, check out the list of
terms needing definitions. If you know how to fill out an entry, please do!
Improving a Glossary Entry
If you think a Glossary entry could be improved, probably the best thing to do is to leave the existing entry untouched, and
add your new proposed replacement text at the bottom of the existing entry. Then send email the dev list or to the last person who changed the page, and see if they agree with the proposed change.
