  • Explicit Collection - An explicit collection is one of the three types of collections we identified in our use case survey of collections in current applications. Chandler will not have explicit collections in their pure form, however we will include affordances of explicit collections in our notions of named collections and ad-hoc collections. Explicit collections are generally small (less than 20 items), explicitly ordered and carefully guarded sets of items that are created an maintained by explicit DnD? manipulations. Users generally have a pretty good idea of most of the contents of an explicit collection and the collection as a whole usually has a sense of narrative / cohesion (ie. tape mix, grocery shopping list). The items in and explicit collection are generally more important than the collection itself, which oftentimes simply serves as a container for the items. Examples of explicit collections we found in existing software include iTunes playlists, PIM task lists, Taskmaster thrasks.
